Spread the love

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

We all have those days where things just seem so gloomy and you just feel out of whack. What do you do to get out of the rut on these days?

You can’t possibly just binge-watch those dramas until you look like a dead bloated panda.

It will not only affect your health, but you’ll also stay that way longer unless you do something about it.

So here’s a list of daily habits for you to keep yourself positive and be your best self every day.

What you will learn

Toggle
  • 1. Praying on time
  • 2. Talking to your loved ones
  • 3. Have a good breakfast
  • 4. Open the curtains and let the sunlight in
  • 5. Exercise
  • 6. Take out your dua list
  • 7. Write in your journal
  • 8. Drink lots of water
  • 9. Step outside
  • 10. Choose 3 things to accomplish today

1. Praying on time

There’s something about the nature of Salah that can help you get out of a slump in any situation.

Taking whudu, the specific times to perform Salah and the movement in Salah can help you lift up your spirits.

The first thing to do when you get into a slump is to check your Salah.

And while you’re in sujood, speak to Allah in your heart about whatever it is that may be bothering you.

Allah says in the Quran,

Seek help through patience and prayer; and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah]. (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:45)

2. Talking to your loved ones

Be sure to talk to your loved ones each day. Human interaction can be very soothing and uplifting especially with those you love most.

Have a good chat with your spouse, children, parents etc. Whoever it may be. Just be sure to give yourself that daily boost of human interaction so that you can bring out the best in you each day insyaAllah.

3. Have a good breakfast

A good breakfast will give the right boost of vitamins and nutrients you need so that your body can function well throughout the day.

That’s why it’s called ‘break’ ‘fast’, you’re actually breaking fast from a whole night’s sleep. So nourishing your body with the right nutrients after a whole night of ‘fasting’ will help you lift your mood and start your day with a positive light insyaAllah.

Prophet Muhammad SAW said,

“Mention Allah’s Name (i.e., say Bismillah before starting eating), eat with your right hand, and eat from what is near you.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

4. Open the curtains and let the sunlight in

Indeed, Allah’s help is always near. (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:214)

Let the warm rays of sunlight with a good dose of natural vitamin D into your room. It will instantly boost your mood when your room is brightly lit up.

Staying indoors can take a toll on your mood after a while. Be sure to soak in those good vitamin Ds and be in a more positive light (literally!).

5. Exercise

Exercising will definitely help you boost your mood! The serotonin boost in your body will help you get out of a slump any day.

It doesn’t matter if you opt for yoga, pilates or simple sets of jumping jacks. Once your body is drenched in sweat, you’ll be in a whole different mood and your mind will be as clear as the day!

Prophet Muhammad SAW said,

The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, although both are good. (Sunan Ibn Majah)

6. Take out your dua list

If you don’t have a dua list, I highly recommend you make one! Ever since I started my dua list, all my goals and dreams are clearly listed out in detail.

Whenever I feel demotivated or lost, I would look back to my dua list and refocus on my goals.

A dua list is essentially all your dreams and wishes neatly organized in a list according to categories including your akhirah!

Prophet Muhammad SAW said,

Nothing can change the Divine decree except dua. (Hassan At-Tirmidhi)

7. Write in your journal

Journaling can help you clear up your mind faster than anything. Once you put all your thoughts on paper, you’d be surprised how much burden you’re actually carrying around in your head each day.

Practice writing your thoughts down.

You will feel lighter and freer once your worries are off your chest.

8. Drink lots of water

Our body is composed of up to 60% of water. So it’s natural that we provide the right amount of water for our body each day, which is about 2 liters of water per day.

Dehydration is not only bad for your overall health, it also reduces your brain functions which in turn drags you deeper into the dumps. So, drink more water!

9. Step outside

The nature all around us is truly magical and beautiful! Take advantage of it!

Go outside and have a walk or just sit in nature where you can fill your lungs with fresh air, hear the water and soothe your eyes with greeneries.

Your mood and senses will instantly rise up to meet nature’s goodness.

Allah says in the Quran,

Travel throughout the earth and see how He brings life into being. (Surah Al-Ankabut 29:20)

10. Choose 3 things to accomplish today

Allah says in the Quran,

By time. Indeed, mankind is in loss. Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience. (Surah Al-Asr, 103:1-3)

No matter what happens today, commit to yourself to accomplish these 3 things. Your mind will instantly become focused and you will automatically find yourself being productive to accomplish these 3 things.

Don’t set the bar too high just yet.

Choose something easy and achievable for the day. Soon, you will find yourself achieving more than what you bargained for insyaAllah. 🙂

I hope these 10 tips will help you boost your mood every day insyaAllah. It’s easy to fall into a slump once in a while which is why it is super important to refocus on the positives in our everyday lives.

Any good from this article is from Allah and any evil is from the shaytaan and me. May Allah forgive our shortcomings in practicing His deen.

Wa billahi tawfeeq wa hidayah

(All successes come from Allah and His guidance).
