[…] 10 Beautiful Ways To Be The People Of Jannah […]
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Can you imagine yourself being in Jannah (heaven)? At this very moment, right now. Not having to worry about a single thing. Never having to age another second. Never feeling tired, lonely, scared or having any problems whatsoever!
You would be living in pure bliss with everything you could ever ask for! Would it be worth it to strive for that luxury that will last for eternity? Of course, right?!
Who wouldn’t want that?
Description of Jannah in the Quran
[Surah At-Tur, 52:17-28]
That is what we, Muslims are encouraged to strive for each and every second that we’re living. But even though this truth may be very obvious to us, the reality is our desires and the deceptions of this world can very much delude us into loving this world more than Jannah.
But you prefer the worldly life, while the Hereafter is better and more enduring. [Surah Al-A’la, 87:16-17]
We can say all we want that we are striving for Jannah, but do our actions actually depict that? How much are we actually sacrificing for Allah?
It is possible that we would only regret the actions we take in this life when we are already being judged by Allah on the day of Judgement.
By then, nothing we do can change our fate. We are set to go to Jannah or Jahannam.
On that day, no one would have ANY mercy on you. Mothers will have no desire for their children, friends would turn their backs on you and even try to take the rewards of your good deeds to save themselves, everyone would single-handedly be saving themselves and no one else.
It is said to be the scariest time.
Hearts, that Day, will tremble. [Surah An Nazi’at, 79:8]
The good news is, we can rely on Allah and Prophet Muhammad SAW’s syafaat but ONLY… if we have truly followed their teachings in its entirety during our lifetime.
Sounds simple, but may not be the easiest thing to do. Thus, the existence of hell and heaven.
Did you know that the BIGGEST reason Allah created Jannah is as a reward for us being His obedient slaves? Yes, that is why the tests that we have to go through in this life often goes against what we love.
We love money, so we have to give charity. We love food, so we have to fast often. We love the opposite sex, so we have to guard our modesty.
So pray to your Lord and make your sacrifice to Him alone. [Surah Al-Khawthar, 108:2]
Everything we love other than Allah in this life is a test to see if we are willing to sacrifice it for the sake of Allah. That’s the ultimate test, to see if we love Allah more than this dunya. Once we pass this test, we will be rewarded with true abundance where nothing will be deficient, and everything we love will last forever!
That is a fair game.
So, how do we get to Jannah?
Let me break it down for you.
Step 1: Follow the Quran & Sunnah entirely
Step 2: Model Prophet Muhammad SAW and his Sahabahs
Step 3: Die as a Muslim
That’s it!
Again, it’s simple but not always easy. So, let’s start with getting to know some of the obvious traits of the people who qualify for Jannah.
From there, insyaAllah we can have a better understanding of how to get closer to Jannah. 🙂
1. Avoid major sins
We generally don’t go near big sins because they are pretty obvious and if we are born Muslims, insyaAllah we are taught from a young age that these things are haram and should be avoided.
Some of these major sins include:
- Associating partners with Allah (Shirk)
- Committing murder
- Drinking alcohol
- Having sex without marriage
- Committing suicide
These things can lead to many other sins or even nullify your faith all together. So, we should always be mindful never to go near any of these major sins insyaAllah.
May Allah protect us all. Ameen.

2. Love knowledge
Knowledge is the best way to prevent ourselves from becoming ignorant. An example would be the Arabs in pre-Islamic times. History can reveal many lessons on the nature of mankind.
The Arabs were oppressing the poor, the women and burying their own daughters alive out of ignorance.
Today, we may not be as ignorant because our general humanity consciousness has increased as a whole. But we can still fall into ignorance in the sense that…
- Sexual openness is favoured over modesty
- Bribery and injustice is rampant in every government
- Household abuse is becoming more common
- The youth are incompetent and becoming slaves to their devices
These things require extensive knowledge to be fought against and restore the ideal Islamic lifestyle that Prophet Muhammad SAW and his Sahabahs have preached their whole lives.
What are we doing on our part to uphold Allah’s religion today?
The people who constantly seek knowledge and restore the true teachings of Islam are the ones who will be admitted to Jannah. InsyaAllah. 🙂
May we be one of them. Ameen.

3. Be kind to your parents and family
It’s easier to be kind to strangers, they have nothing against you and you don’t know them well enough to understand their flaws and weaknesses.
But when it comes to the people who are closest to us – our parents and family members – it’s easier to take all their actions to heart and punish them – albeit obliviously with harsh treatment – just by the mere fact that we’ve known them our whole lives.
This is why being kind to our parents and family members can sometimes be the hardest thing. We have to take extra care in overlooking their bad habits, mistreatments and annoyances in order to treat them kindly just as we would with a complete stranger.
Allah says our parents, especially our mother, should have the utmost best treatment from us without exception. Even if they are not-yet-Muslims, they still deserve to have the best treatment from you just because they are your parents.
So, the inheritors of Jannah know this very well, they are the kindest to their parents and family members.
May Allah make us the kindest people to our parents and family members. Ameen.

4. Help build mosques
Mosques are the places of worship for all Muslims around the globe. In each community, Mosques are also used to spread knowledge, have community gatherings and social events.
I even got married in my local mosque. Alhamdulillah. 🙂
So, these places are very special in the flourishing of Islam. We need more mosques in every corner of the world to continue how Prophet Muhammad SAW used to help build mosques in Medina back then.
The people of Jannah know this very well, they are excited to build the house of Allah because Allah promised them that they too will have a house in Jannah. InsyaAllah. 🙂
May we be one of them. Ameen.
5. Be patient
Patience is a virtue only the strong has, and I have to admit, sometimes I may not have it.
It is easy to get upset and angry whenever something bothers you, but to control yourself and hold that anger in, takes a lot more strength. Have you seen people who get angry over the slightest things? What do you think of them?
The first thing that comes to my mind is, ‘how does this person control everything else in their lives when they can’t even control themselves?’
Being able to control your own emotions in any given situation is the essence of being patient. Anyone can claim that they’re patiently enduring certain calamities but your actions will never lie.
How you act in those hard times will show exactly how much patience you have.
Prophet Muhammad SAW once walked by a woman crying profusely over the death of her child. He reminded her to be patient at that moment. The woman, not knowing it was Prophet Muhammad SAW who was speaking to her, responded to him harshly that he doesn’t understand what she was going through. Later on when she found out it was Prophet Muhammad SAW that she had retorded harshly to, she went looking for him to apologize for what she did.
In other words, real patience is shown the moment that calamity reaches you.
How did you respond to it?
The people of Jannah are experts at responding to calamities with patience because they know, it’s all a test from Allah. There is no reason to get upset because everything that happens to us is by the decree of Allah and our job, as His slaves, is to only accept it, endure it and be grateful for everything that He gave us, even if it seems bad sometimes.
When Allah gives us something seemingly bad, it does not necessarily mean that it is bad for us. It may be good for our deen. We just don’t know it.
We may not have the wisdom to see the good Allah intends for us.
Remember, anything that brings us closer to Allah is good and anything that brings us further from Him is bad for us. There’s no in between.
So, have patience knowing that Allah only intends good for us in this world.
May Allah make us His most patient slaves. Ameen.

6. Take care of orphans
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW was an orphan himself. Before he was born, his father passed away and soon after he was born, his mother passed away too. Despite not having both his parents, he was still able to become one of the most influential people ever to exist in this world. MasyaAllah.
We have to take the lesson from this. Orphans are just normal people like you and me. If given the right love and care from society, they can flourish and become successful just like every one of us.
Rasulullah SAW loved children, especially orphans. He would tell his Sahabahs to pat the head of orphans to soften their hearts.
If we are not able to adopt orphans, there are still many ways we could contribute in their care, ie. give donations regularly, volunteer to teach them and provide other resources etc.
The people of Jannah know that every little deed they do counts in the sight of Allah. So, no matter how small your contribution to them is, in the sight of Allah, it can be the very source of His pleasure and mercy.
May Allah give us the opportunity to take care of the orphans in our community. Ameen.
7. Be humble
People who are humble do not see themselves better than anyone else no matter how much power or resources Allah gives them in this life. They know that every single possession they have is only a temporary lending from Allah and that they will be held accountable for all of it on the day of judgment.
The people of Jannah have this humility before Allah and all His creations.
The opposite of a humble person, is an arrogant person. They feel that everything they posses, ie. wealth, intelligence, health and children are all purely the result of their own effort.
They forget to give thanks to Allah and attribute all of their possessions back to Allah. We can see many examples of arrogant people in the Quran such as Firaun (Pharaoh), Qaruun and Abu Lahab.
May the hands of Abū Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he. [Surah Al-Masad 111:1]
These are all the people who are cursed by Allah as a lesson to all of us to never follow their footsteps.
The people of Jannah on the other hand, are the humble servants of Allah that continue to obey and repent to Allah for all their mistakes. They accept that Greatness ONLY belongs to Allah. Therefore, every other creature of Allah, including themselves, do not deserve ANY praises or acknowledgments that belong to Allah.
May Allah make us all His most humble servants. Ameen.

8. Be great Khalifahs (leaders)
Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority. [Surah Al-Baqarah 2:30]
Allah has created us all mankind as a successor on this earth, meaning we are responsible to bring balance, peace and harmony into this world according to Allah’s laws.
Each and every one of us were created with extraordinary intelligence, consciousness and competence to uphold this responsibility excellently. The people of Jannah take this obligation VERY seriously.
They know that this life is our ONE chance to prove to Allah our devotion to Him alone.
If we truly love Allah, we would be willing to sacrifice our own desires and follow His guidance thoroughly. It’s like loving our parents, we would be willing to prioritize them first above our own needs and obey them as much as we love them.
The people of Jannah are the best in practicing Allah’s religion. May we all be amongst them. Ameen.

9. Be truthful
One of the most prominent traits of Prophet Muhammad SAW is his truthfulness. It was this trait that made the Quraisy in the pre-Islamic era loved Muhammad SAW and made Khadijah RA ask him for marriage.
His honesty and trustworthiness in handling all his business affairs made him well-known among the Arabs as a trustworthy merchant. Khadijah RA fell so in love with his immaculate character that she did not hesitate to ask his hand in marriage.
Being a dishonest person can ruin your reputation like wildfire spreading in the forest. People will simply never believe you anymore.
That is why Prophet Muhammad SAW was honest and trustworthy even before he became a Prophet. His people knew that he would never lie, therefore everything he says after becoming a Prophet must be the truth. It is the decree of Allah.
So, let’s be honest Muslims just like our Prophet Muhammad SAW. InsyaAllah. 🙂

10. Love others sincerely
We all want to be loved, cared for and made to feel important. The people of Jannah are experts at giving themselves and the people in their lives this special love and care.
Whoever would love to be saved from Hellfire and admitted into Paradise, then let him meet his end with faith in Allah and the Last Day, and let him treat people the way he would love to be treated. [Muslim]
Prophet Muhammad SAW loved all his Sahabahs so much so that everyone thought they were his favourite person because of the exquisite love he showed each and every one of them.
To be honest, I’m still figuring this out myself. But I have people in my life that treat everyone extremely kindly that everyone just can’t help loving them so much as well. May Allah bless them with Jannatul Firdaus (the highest heaven). Ameen.
There’s an art to loving others sincerely, you need a whole lot of wisdom. Something we should all learn because it may not come naturally. Even parents tend to favor one kid over another.
But for the people of Jannah, understanding people and giving what they need in every situation just seems so natural. One person I know who has this quality was my father in law, everyone loved him, but Allah loved him more when He died 3 months after my husband and I got married.
Even though I didn’t get to spend much time with him, I will never forget the 3 months that I had living under his roof. While fighting the pain of pancreatic cancer, he took the time to get to know me and would compliment me often.
One time, he told me how he used to open a chicken rice shop in the middle of KL when he was younger. It was his glory days, that made him very rich in those days. I was just listening attentively. At the end of it, he said,” when you and abang (my husband) become rich one day, don’t forget to visit our relatives in Kelantan”. I don’t know if he saw something in me or he said that to everyone.
Anyway, I didn’t think about it after that, but since that was his last advice to me, it will forever be in my heart. May Allah give Ayah (dad in Malay) and all of us Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen.
Let’s be like the people of Jannah. They’re the best. 🙂

Final thoughts on the people of Jannah
You who believe, fulfil your obligations. [Surah Al-Ma’idah, 5:1]
The people of Jannah are the chosen ones who have fulfilled their obligations to Allah to their best ability on this earth. We can definitely be one of them insyaAllah, only if we truly want to.
Allah did not make His religion hard, every teaching in Islam is perfect according to the natural laws of the universe and our creation.
We only have to understand it and practice it.
May we all receive Allah’s mercy and be accepted into Jannatul Firdaus inshaAllah.
Any good from this article is from Allah and any evil is from the shaytaan and me. May Allah forgive our shortcomings in practicing His deen.
